About Kendall
Kendall Anthony, a native of Jackson, TN, graduated from Liberty Tech Magnet High School before pursuing his higher education at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, where he earned his bachelor's degree in political science. He is currently playing professional basketball overseas. With experience in seven countries, including Turkey, Czech Republic, Brazil, Iceland, France, Israel, and Italy he continues to see the world while advancing his professional career. Even while playing overseas Kendall remains deeply committed to giving back to his community and serving as a positive role model for youth. Kendall founded the Kzer0 Foundation with a vision to enrich the Jackson and Madison County communities by nurturing youth development and providing support to those in need. He believes that by offering young people opportunities to thrive, our communities can grow and prosper.
About Karen
Karen Phelps is currently a Federal Programs Support Coach for the Jackson-Madison County School System (JMCSS). She has worked in Jackson-Madison County Schools for 40 years and retired as a Title I Consultant for Federal Programs in 2022. During her tenure, Karen was recognized for her outstanding leadership as a consultant. Prior to becoming a consultant, she taught second and third grade, served as an 8th-grade reading specialist, and worked as a Grant Facilitator for three years.Karen received her B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin, her M.A. degree from the University of Memphis, and her Ed.S. degree from Freed-Hardeman University.
She is actively involved in several organizations. Karen is the 2nd Vice President and a Silver Star member of the Gamma Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She also serves as the 1st Vice President of the Semper Fidelis Council of Federated Women’s Clubs in Jackson, TN. Additionally, she is a new member of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., and a Diamond Life member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Gamma Psi Chapter, where she currently serves as president.
Karen is deeply committed to her community. She is a member of SAACA, where she contributes to events such as Miss Juneteenth and the African Street Festival. She has two children: Kendall Anthony, a professional basketball player overseas, and Kara Anthony, an Instructional Coach at Lincoln Elementary School.Karen enjoys shopping, traveling, and working in the community with her son’s nonprofit organization, KZer0, which focuses on fostering youth development and extending support to those in need within the Madison County community.
Her motto is: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
About Jason
Jason Hunt is from Indianapolis, Indiana, and is a graduate of Lawrence North High School. Jason has deep roots in Jackson, TN, as it is the hometown of his parents, Marion and Diane Hunt. He played college basketball at Jackson State University before transferring to Lane College, where he finished his playing career and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Dowling College in partnership with the University of Memphis.
Jason has primarily worked in the transportation industry, serving as a Human Resources Manager at FedEx Express and as both a Dispatch Supervisor and Terminal Manager at UPS. In addition to his transportation background, Jason has also worked as an HR Generalist at West Tennessee Healthcare and an HR Coordinator at Adient, LLC. He has been deeply involved with youth in Tennessee, coaching AAU basketball for over 20 years with teams in Memphis, Nashville, and Jackson.
Jason has mentored many of the young men he coached, often referring to them as his own kids, following his philosophy that a coach becomes a father figure. He currently trains young athletes in basketball in Lexington, TN, where he resides. Children hold a special place in his heart, and he is committed to giving back to the community. Jason is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., as well as the Fraternity of Freemasonry.

About Wendy
Wendellyn Trice Martin is a native Jacksonian and a retired educator from the Jackson-Madison County School System. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fisk University and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Trevecca Nazarene University. During her tenure with the Jackson-Madison County School System, she taught elementary school, middle school English, and American history.
Mrs. Wendellyn Trice Martin is the president of The Society for African American Cultural Awareness (SAACA), where she coordinates cultural events for Jackson and the surrounding counties. These events include the African Street Festival, Harlem Nights, Kwanzaa, Juneteenth, the Miss Juneteenth Jackson Scholarship Pageant, and the Gil Scott-Heron Project/Concert.
Her motto is to always be useful, helpful, and strive to make a difference!
